You can register your details on the website to receive the latest news and updates from the DBS.
If you are an applicant, you can also find out more about the identification documentation that you must provide as part of the application process.
Police Force Delays
Your DBS check may be delayed if it has to go to a local police force. Enhanced DBS checks are reviewed by local police forces as part of the disclosure service. This is built-in to the time it usually takes to process your check.
However, delays may occur from time to time because of high demand, further information being required or, in some cases, the force needing to obtain legal advice on whether it is appropriate for employment purposes. More details are available in the DBS information sheet.
If you have an application in progress with a local police force, and it has been with them for more than 60 days, you can escalate your application using online tracking (fastest option).
If you haven’t received your certificate within two weeks of the escalation, call us on 0208 603 3570 and we will contact the police to ask that your application is prioritised.
